AMD Radeon HD 6000 Series CrossFireX scales quite nicely

Multi GPU performance relies quite a bit on how well the graphics chips handle communicating with each other and the quality of the drivers that are available for the setups. The AMD Radeon HD 6870 and 6850 offer an intriguing combination of pricing, power consumption, temperature, and driver maturity that somehow manages to push their performance in CrossFireX setups to impressive heights and are a good example of efficiency pulling off some seemingly impossible performance scaling when paring up two of the cards. Perhaps we’ll see this trend carry over to the company’s higher end chips which should be launching soon.
