Asus ROG Crosshair IV Extreme gets Lucid equipped

It would appear that the Lucid HYDRALOGIX has found another fan…a big one. The Asus ROG Crosshair IV Extreme motherboard sports five PCIe x16 slots two that are CrossFireX enabled via the AMD 890FX chipset while the other three use Lucid’s extra special connectivity that allows graphics cards from different manufacturers to work in a pseudo Multi GPU environment so you can mix and match to your heart’s content. How exactly the two distinct PCIe blocks will interact, if they will at all, isn’t completely known but images of OpenCL/DirectCompute/PhysX possibilities sure does flash before my eyes.

Of course there’s more to the board than just a pile of graphics options. You’ll find extensive overclocking support in its BIOS as well as support for tweaking over wireless Bluetooth so tuning from your mobile device (iPhone). With it being an AMD 890FX powered motherboard you can expect quite a bit of AM3 support.
