It was bound to happen sooner or later and the consequences are severe for any company that makes use of computers….just about everyone?

Dell has issued a warning that some of its PowerEdge R410 motherboards contain a trojan that was injected into the firmware used by the onboard system management software that can then expose the installed Windows operating system to infection.

Unfortunately such malware is difficult to detect if it’s already preloaded on to the board and with the increasing adoption of virtualization hardware and software combinations pinpointing a an issue like this one could be even more confounding.
