Is this a new trend for Android handsets?
Like Sprint has experienced with its EVO 4G, it looks like Verizon has a hot little Android smartphone on its hands in the Droid X. According to numerous reports, Verizon stores are having trouble keeping it in stock after its first day of availability. And you can forget about trying to order one online.
Is it the glowing Droid X reviews? HDMI out? The $199 price tag (w/ two year contract)? The high-def, 720P video capture function? The 100,000 apps and counting? Whatever the reason, this is welcome news for the Android OS ecosystem and folks looking for full-featured smartphones outside of AT&T’s stranglehold on the iPhone — not to mention Motorola, the struggling maker of the Droid X.
