It’s rare that a new driver actually improves performance for things as mundane as a USB port but, somehow, Gigabyte’s (or more likely Renesas/NEC) new UASP USB 3.0 driver manages to improve USB 2.0 speeds quite handily when running on USB 3.0 Gigabyte motherboards which sport the appropriate controller chipset. Considering how painfully slow many external storage units are it’s bound to be a welcome speed boost for those with the hardware.
