Graphics Card Coolers Rounded Up found to be fiddly

While the thought of adding a graphics card cooler to your shiny new gaming monster has probably run through all of our heads there’s a fine line between true performance and absolute failure.

bit-tech rounded up 11 graphics card coolers and put them to the test with varying levels of success. Today’s graphics cards might just be too much for coolers to handle:

While you might be sitting there thinking, “just man up, bit-tech”, the fact is that a complex, fiddly install process can, with several of these coolers, easily result in the cooler not being properly fitted to the card – and that makes it very easy to subject your GPU to much more heat than it can take. Testing with the Twin Turbo Pro destroyed our Radeon HD 5870, while we had a near-death experience with the Accelero S1 Rev 2 the first time we fitted it.

If you value your model-like hands you might just want to purchase a card with one of these coolers pre-installed.
