hardCOREware has a review of the HighPoint RocketRAID 1640 4-port SerialATA hard disk controller. It’s evident that the device functions best in a RAID environment and it does a decent job of things until it hits the nasty limitations of the PCI bus. If there was ever a case for moving drive controllers off the PCI bus, like most modern chipsets do, or moving over to PCI-Express this is it.
