Intel Sandy Bridge blazes new trails

Despite producing the fastest consumer oriented system processor on the market Intel isn’t content to stick around with an old design for too long. The company’s upcoming (code named) Sandy Bridge processors offer distinct performance and feature advantages over any current processor available today. The chip takes on a whole host of changes all at once including integrated graphics in the CPU die with advanced features which should make those nightmarish northbridge/IGP combination nightmares a thing of the past and refinements to processing pipelines and extending their SSE technology with even more advanced instructions. In short it’s going to be an extremely fast and efficient processor despite the average end user using just a portion of its computational power in day to day use.
