NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 and AMD Radeon HD 5970 battle at the top end

When you launch a new product the inevitable comparisons with solutions around your price range will begin. NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 580 video card is one of the fastest single card graphics solutions around but its pricing, including sizable markups due to lack of supply, puts it extremely close to the AMD Radeon HD 5970 dual GPU card. Of course deciding on which option you want to go with takes careful consideration unless you like spending $500 at a time on something that really doesn’t meet your needs. Interestingly AMD’s 6900 series should be launched soon as well which means you’ll have to choose from a trio (or more) solutions.
