If you’re the type that chooses to remain inconspicuous while taking snapshots this will blow your cover. The new PENTAX K-r DSLR, shown in red but also available in white and black, is aimed at the mid-range crowd and is capable taking 6 FPS framerate allowing up to 25 images to be queued up to be written to your memory card. Its new 12.4 megapixel sensor attempts to ward off noise and offers up 100-25600 ISO range for those with a love for fine tuning. They’ve even tossed in an improved HDR mode with a Night Scene setting which takes the guess work out of creating those stunning images even in the dark.

As far as other interesting features go 25FPS 720p HD video recording is in as is Image Stabilization, or as they like to call it “Shake Reduction”, and a slew of in-camera image processing options and filters for on the go fun.

The camera will begin shipping this October and pricing is as follows (MSRP):

  • K-r Body Kit       $799.95 USD
  • K-r Lens Kit w 18-55     $849.95 USD
  • K-r Double Lens Kit w 18-55, 50-200     $899.95 USD
  • K-r Double Lens Kit w 18-55, 55-300     $999.95 USD

They’re also announcing the new PENTAX DA 35mm F2.4 AL lens which should be suitable for shooting in all manner of applications, I’m sure we’ve all heard that before, for a MSRP of $219.95USD also shipping this October.
