Tech Arp goes about putting an old practice to rather modern products. Lapping a heatsink and CPU heatspreader has been one of the “easier” ways to improve thermal performance in cases where a chip’s heatspreader isn’t exactly flat. They managed quite the temperature improvement but all of this came at the price of their warrant…and some sandpaper…and a few hours of free time.
