Windows 7 leads to a greener home or office

Microsoft’s Windows 7 has had a grand time pulling in all manner of people looking to upgrade their operating system or already preloaded on new PCs and all of that market growth may just lead to an eco-friendlier planet, or at least a bit of savings on the old energy bill.

It would seem the operating system’s aggressive out of the box energy saving features, as well as under the hood fine tuning, turns previously power hungry systems into energy friendly machines cutting quite a bit of power consumption from idle to high system usage cases which equates to quite a bit of savings over time compared to Windows XP. That seems to mesh quite nicely with our findings.
